Q. 3 chamber variable speed pump received without installation instructions
A. See IMI 127, 5800 Variable Speed Installation Instructions
Q. 5 chamber variable speed pump received without installation instructions
A. See IMI 135, 550 Variable Speed Installation Instructions
Q. Will the 5502-IDN2-V77D pump supply only an icemaker with all other outlets closed?
A. If the icemaker flow is less than the minimum regulated flow of .25 gpm, the pressure transducer hardware may get damaged due to on-off cycling. We suggest adding a ½ gallon accumulator after the pump to absorb the excess flow.
Q. My variable speed, pressure regulated pump sometimes will not turn on, and sometimes slowly cycles on and off
A. If the feed pressure to the pump exceeds the shut off pressure, the pump will not turn on. If the feed pressure is less than the shut off pressure, but greater than the regulated pressure, the pump may slowly cycle on, and off.
Q. My variable speed pump shuts off while water is still demanded
A. If the demand is less than the minimum pressure regulated flow, the pump will shut off.
Q. Which variable speed pump should I order for my Merlin System?
A. The 5501 and 5502 -IVM3-V77D-UL has been successfully tested by GE Osmonics, and is suitable for residential size membrane production of up to 50 gallons of permeate per day.
Q. Received Merlin Pump without installation instructions, or a trouble shooting guide
A. Aquatec has not participated in the assembly of the Merlin System. Consult GE .
Q. What fitting should I order for use on the Merlin System pump?
A. The 5502-IVM3-V77D-UL uses a ¾” quick connect fitting, and is available in straight or elbow shape with ½”, 5/8”, and ¾” hose barb terminations. Quick connect fittings with John Guest push-to-connect 3/8” and ½” terminations are also available.
Q. The 5800 delivery pump cycles on and off rapidly while filling the icemaker
A. Icemakers use very little water during the fill cycle. The delivery pump that supplies potable water to the icemaker at a very low flow, must also be capable of supplying water to higher demand outlets requiring a compromise in pump performance. Aquatec’s solution is a variable speed pump that delivers only the amount of water required, at a constant pressure.
